Dr. Kevin Sprenkle earned his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in the spring of 2016. Prior to his graduate education, Dr. Sprenkle earned his B.A. in Psychology from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Sprenkle has four years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including hospitals, private schools, social service agencies and in private practice.
In therapeutic care, Dr. Sprenkle believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship for healing and change. From the foundation of a safe, open and authentic relationship, he joins clients in their difficulties to explore possibilities which have been unrealized or unnoticed. Dr. Sprenkle utilizes an existential/humanistic approach to therapy which values and prizes all human experience, no matter how painful or troubling, in order to empower clients in their lives. Dr. Sprenkle is attentive to his client’s needs and concerns upon entrance to therapy and works collaboratively with them in the treatment process. As such, he also utilizes other approaches to therapy like CBT, Mindfulness and Family Systems approaches to best meet his clients’ needs.
Dr. Sprenkle specializes in the care of individuals suffering from severe emotional distress and issues with spirituality. In particular, he is passionate about working with issues like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and suicide. However, Dr. Sprenkle is adept at working with individuals across the lifespan suffering from depression, anxiety, relational issues, psychosis and occupational/academic difficulties. Dr. Sprenkle works with individuals across the lifespan, as well as couples, families and groups. Dr. Sprenkle utilizes both psychotherapy and psychological assessment to empower individuals in their lives.
