Nora is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois. She earned her Bachelors in Applied Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Master’s in Counseling from National Louis University.
Nora has experience working with a variety of areas and populations. She has worked in an IOP, office, residential, and home-based services. Since 2005, Nora has worked with families involved with DCFS, foster families, traditional families, and adoptive families. Nora has experience with mood and anxiety disorders, depression, bi-polar, divorce, blended families, communication, emotional difficulty, school struggles, and social skill deficits.
Nora focuses on fostering a nurturing environment during sessions where clients can feel safe. She provides exceptional clinical techniques to promote positive change. Some of the therapeutic approaches Nora uses include cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness techniques and solutions-focused therapy. She teaches parenting skills and techniques like Love and Logic, and Trust Based Relational Interventions. Nora is trained in the attachment-based therapy, Theraplay, and uses it to help strengthen relationships. Nora is certified in EMDR and uses it to reduce the impact of trauma as well as other psychological distresses.
