Deb is a Certified Alcohol and other Drug Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. Deb received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Northern Illinois University in 1998, and her master’s degree in counseling from Northern Illinois University in 2001.
Deb has extensive experience working with adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse, psychiatric illness, developmental delays, and abuse and trauma experiences. In addition, Deb has had success in treating those with substance use disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, those coping with life transitions, non-dot SAP evaluations and those seeking to improve overall mental health wellness. Deborah has a passion for working with the LGBT community, and is attune to the struggles and obstacles that individuals may face as members of this community.
Deb’s style of therapy is collaborative and non-judgmental, as the decision to enter therapy can be a difficult one. Deb will assist her clients in assessing and developing strengths to empower her clients to make positive and healthy decisions. Deb believes that individuals have a great capacity to achieve maximum potential when provided with the right therapeutic environment. In addition to providing clinical services, Deb has been an adjunct faculty member at Waubonsee Community College in the human services program, preparing new counselors as they obtain their certifications to provide substance abuse counseling services.
