Jessica Adams earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. Prior to her graduate education, Dr. Adams earned her B.A. in Psychology from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. Dr. Adams has five years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, including private practice, community mental health, nonprofit community agencies, and within psychiatric hospitals. Dr. Adams greatly believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship to facilitate change and promote self-exploration and personal growth in a safe and inviting environment. She values the use of humor and compassion to strengthen the relationship between a clinician and a client.
Dr. Adams has an extensive background working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of areas such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, grief and loss, behavioral issues, trauma, abuse, adjustment issues, and personality disorders. She uses an integrative approach to counseling using techniques from several therapeutic styles, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), mindfulness, reality therapy, and positive psychology to best tailor treatment to meet the individual needs of each client. Dr. Adams believes in the importance of providing effective and comprehensive care to assist clients in developing the skills necessary for goal achievement and reaching maximum potential throughout the therapeutic experience and beyond.
