Katie received her Master of Social Work degree from Aurora University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. She has previous experience in clinical, home, and school settings as an ABA therapist. She has experience working with children and adolescents on the Autism Spectrum, with developmental delays, as well as typically developing individuals with other diagnoses. Some areas of interest include but are not limited to emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, self-esteem building, behavioral challenges, relationship challenges, and adjustment to life changes.
She employs a relational approach, believing that the most important factor in successful therapy is a strong relationship between client and therapist. She enjoys integrating techniques from a variety of clinical approaches such as Play and Expressive therapies, CBT, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Her approach is always tailored to meet the needs of her client. She believes in empowering her clients and providing them with tools to manufacture their own successes. She enjoys watching her clients’ growth and gains deep satisfaction knowing she has played a role in that.
