Kirsten is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor at Edgewood Clinical Services. She received her undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and transitioned on to receive her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. Kirsten has serviced clients in several settings including a residential treatment facility, psychiatric hospital, therapeutic day school, and private practices.
Throughout her career, Kirsten has worked with children, adolescent, and adult clients. She enjoys helping children with school issues, attention deficit issues, coping skills, peer relationship skills, behavioral issues, and self-esteem. Kirsten enjoys working with adolescent and adult clients in the areas trauma, parenting, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, impulse control issues, relational issues, self-harm and adjustment to life changes.
Kirsten employs a relational approach, believing that the most important factor in successful therapy is a strong relationship between client and therapist. She enjoys utilizing techniques from a variety of clinical treatment models including play therapies, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and insight oriented therapies. Kirsten places a strong focus on helping her clients in a collaborative way insuring that their needs are being met throughout the therapeutic process.
