Lauren Polcyn is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor through the State of Illinois as well as being a National Certified Counselor. Lauren is a graduate from Valparaiso University, where she earned her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She received her Bachelor of Psychology degree from Eastern Illinois University.
Lauren has a wide range of experience, working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Lauren has worked with clients dealing with behavioral issues, autism spectrum disorder, adoption concerns, anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment and change issues, personality disorders, working through past trauma, issues with self-injury, suicidal ideation, sexual, verbal, emotional, and physical abuse issues, self-esteem and self-worth issues, bullying, communication issues, marital issues, family conflict, oppositional defiance, and peer relationships struggles.
Evidence-based therapeutic models Lauren uses include Existential Therapy, Mindfulness & Acceptance techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and techniques incorporated from Person Centered Therapy.
Building strong rapport with her clients, Lauren assists each individual to reach his or her desired goals and authentic self. She has an easy-going, warm, and energetic approach, allowing her to connect with others and make clients feel comfortable with her throughout the therapeutic process. In a nonjudgmental environment, Lauren seeks to assist each client to strive for self-awareness and self-acceptance in an effort to help them reach their personal goals.
