Michelle is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist. She earned her Master of Arts in Art Therapy Counseling from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and her Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Marlboro College in Vermont. She has worked with children, adolescents, and families in a variety of clinical setting including a therapeutic preschool, a psychiatric hospital, and in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. As a graduate student she worked with women and children in a domestic violence shelter, children with terminally ill parents, preschoolers attending Head Start in East St. Louis, and adolescents in detention. Michelle also taught English to children in South Korea.
Michelle has worked for almost a decade with children, adolescents, and families. She specializes in art therapy and also utilizes techniques from play and movement therapies. Her therapeutic approach is psychodynamic with positive psychology influences. She also has great interest in mindfulness approaches and the therapeutic benefits of wilderness experiences.
